HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!! I hope you have had a fabulous festive time with your family and friends. I am of course not sat here in real life typing this, I’m hopefully enjoying my day with family but I wanted to share this little project with you as an idea for the next round of festivities and over indulgence.... New Years Eve!
I have this glass vase type thing that you fill with ice and it holds champagne glasses, I wanted to give it a bit of a festive boost and came up with this wrap idea, I think it would also look great filled with goodies for the New Year party table or a lovely fresh flower arrangement.
I used a strip of pale pink card for the base of my crown, a selection of distress inks (mustard seed, worn lipstick and dusty concord) Some colorbox archival inks in a beach towel stacker, some cosmic shimmer mist in candy pink, some acetate and of course the fabulous Banana Frog Fireworks stamp set.
First off using some cut and dry foam build up layers of the distress ink, blending the colours together, I love the fresh candy colours I created with the colours I used.
Then give the strip a light spritz of water. This serves to blend the colours further and create the mottled pattern you can see. The strip needs drying at this point with a heat gun.
Next stamp a complete firework display using every stamp in the set and the same three colours of distress ink, building the layers further.
A further spritz with the candy pink cosmic shimmer mist further blends the images and adds some festive sparkle. Again use the heat gun to dry off the work.
Then cut the strip into an irregular crown shape, roll it up and glue the seam.
Curl the points of the crown for added dimension.
Stamp the 2 larger firework stamps onto some acetate with a permanent ink. Cut 6 thin strips of acetate and cut out the firework images. Glue them to the end of the strip with a strong crystal clear glue (I used Helmars craft glue) Glue the bottom end of the strips onto the inside of the crown and let the fireworks dangle over the sides (I added a little fold in my strips to help the fireworks hang better) Finally add a little bling to the centre of each firework and that’s it a New Year crown to fill with whatever you like on your party table .... I guess you could even wear it!!
Whatever you decide to do on the 31st have a fabulous time and I’d like to wish you all a very Happy and peaceful New Year!
See you in 2011! Until then Happy Stamping
Love
