Hi everyone!
Welcome to today's project of the day where I'll be using a certain new Banana Frog stamp set to create a nice accessory to any outfit.
Intrigued?
For this project you'll need the following:
- A wooden scrabble tile
- A silver pendant bail (any bail with a flat fixing will do)
- The stamp set of your choice (I'm using Hiya Chick!)
- Mod Podge (matte finish)
- Diamond Glaze or Glossy Accents
- Background paper of your choice
- An ink pad such as Staz-On that will not smudge when Mod Podge is applied
- An ultra-sharp craft knife
- Strong multi-purpose glue
So let's get started with the first step! Selecting your stamp image.
Since the wooden Scrabble tiles are so small a good tip is to use the transparent design sheet included in your stamp set to see what will work best on the tile:
Next, ink up your stamp and stamp your image:
In order to work out where you want to cut out your image for the tile, use the design sheet again so you can position the wooden tile over the stamped image...
You can then roughly cut around the tile with your craft knife:
Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the back of the tile (where there is no imprint) using a brush and attach the cut-out image to the tile, you have a second or two to position it how you want it on the tile before it is stuck in place - So be quick!
Flip the tile over:
Trim the edges off by running the craft knife flush against the tile, you may also need to cut a teeny bit around the corners:
Flip the tile over again, as you now need to seal the stamped image:
Using the brush, apply a thin coat of Mod Podge; make sure your brush strokes are all in the same direction:
Set it aside to dry while you potter about a bit tidying up. ;o)
Once dried it's time to apply the Diamond Glaze!
Tip: Squeeze out some Diamond Glaze onto some scrap paper before applying it to the pendant - you need to get rid of any air bubbles or particles that might have clogged up in the nozzle.
When applying the Diamond Glaze, first go around the tile to create a frame then work inwards slowly squeezing out more of the medium until the surface is completely covered.
Don't worry if any goes over the edges a bit - as long as the entire surface is covered you're fine:
Now comes the hardest part.
You need to exercise some patience!
The best way to do this is set the tile aside to dry (and perhaps cure in the sun) while you go and do something else for a good few hours and take your mind off the drying Diamond Glaze! Ideally leave it to dry overnight....
And resist the temptation to prod at it with your finger to see whether it has dried or not...
Once it's finally dried, it's time to attach the bail:
With a pencil, mark the middle of the tile so you can easily glue the bail on. I used Scrappy Glue to stick the bail on, but ideally silicon glue or a strong multi-purpose glue should do the job:
Set the pendant aside to dry (for the last time!):
Once you're happy it has totally dried out you can finally wear it!
Beautiful work, I've actually bought pendants like this online .... and I call myself a crafter! Lovely choice of stamped image, it works so well.
:D

Really pretty, I don't have any scrabble tiles but I am thinking stampbord or a domino would also work!
