After a long, cold winter it's finally springtime and the April-shower season is well and truly here! And while this can mean you never know which coat to wear, having to take an umbrella everywhere with you 'just in case' and inevitably the hairstyle you perfected in the morning ends up damp and frizzy by lunchtime... April showers do often bring with them a few special treats ... like rainbows!
This rainbow-themed page, which features the 'Make A Chain' set, tells the story of how shortly after my partner brought home a surprise packet of 'Rainbow Drops' [one of my favourite sweets] a rainbow appeared in the sky. My first response was to suggest that if the very things he brings home for me would then suddenly appear before our eyes ...it might be a good idea to bring me some money! You never know do you? My second response was to take a photo of the rainbow and make a layout!
To re-create the rainbow I used the dashed, dotted and straight line stamps from 'Make A Chain':I curved them into an arched shap as I applied them to my acrylic block:
Then stamped each colour individually:
Other sets you might like which also include flexible line stamps wiht which you could achieve this effect include:
Finally I added a few more 'rainbow drops' of my own by taking the discs from the set and using several colours of ink on the stamp at one time. The corners of square ink pads and the tips of petal-shaped pads worked best for this technique:
So that's the end of my rainbow ... now here's the pot of gold - we're giving away a 'Make A Chain' set to one lucky reader!
All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is leave me a comment below telling me what one thing would you like to see raining down from the sky! Cakes? Ribbons? Johnny Depp? Let me know!
The closing time + date for entries is 21:00 [GMT] on Sunday April 25th and I will announce the winner in my Lilypad Lesson post the following day when, who knows ... I might just have a giveaway of my own for you .....
Until then, you know where to find me.
Julie
