Welcome to the weekend everyone!
It looks like spring has finally arrived and with Easter just around the corner I thought I'd share a little project to celebrate. I am loving all the pendants and banners currently on display in the shops in lovely spring colours, I thought why not put one on a card? - I know just the right set of stamps for the job!
So how do we go from this:
To this?
You're going to need:
- Banana Frog Paperchains stamps
- A selection of spring papers
- A small bag of mini jelly beans (or a big one for quality control!)
- Nestabilities oval and scalloped oval dies (or similar)
- A clear baggie
- Some strong dry permanent adhesive - e.g. ATG gun - and some repositionable adhesive
- Mini 3D foam squares
- Matching ink pads
- Any embellishments to decorate
First off I designed and assembled the front of my card, attaching the fringed "grass" strip with permanent adhesive, and then stuck the assembled front piece to my card blank with repositionable adhesive (just enough to hold everything in place).
I then placed my card blank in my Cuttlebug so only the front would get cut (the back of the card was safely protected under the B plate) positioned the oval die where I wanted my egg to sit and wound everything through the machine.
You might get a bit of a crease in the card spine where it has gone through the machine, but this can easily be smoothed out with a bone folder.
And don't chuck away those cut-outs - they will come in handy later!
Next up, detach the card front from your card blank and apply a generous amount of permanent adhesive around the aperture on the front of your card.
Now take your clear baggie - it needs to be big enough to provide some give in the aperture for your jelly beans to fit in - then fill it up with a handful of jelly beans - this is where you can perform some quality control and make sure only the best beans are going to be used! ;o)
Use your oval die as a guide to how many will fit in the oval aperture, and when you're happy apply a generous amount of permanent adhesive to the back of your card front and stick it in place.
You can use a larger scallop oval as a frame around your aperture to finish it off nicely.
I then stamped my Easter banner in some lovely spring shades, cut it out and attached it to the card with some more 3D foam for extra pop!
Add any finishing touches - and don't forget the inside! Remember those oval cut-outs? Well they are great for writing your greeting on inside:
And there you have it...
Your lovely Easter card ready to give to someone, while you enjoy the rest of those jelly beans as a reward!
very inspiring, I think of making some for easter lunch, as placement cards for each, I think it would be nice, thanks for sharing!!!
