Hi all thanks for dropping in for another stamp school. For this class I have been lucky enough to be able to play with some of the new stamp sets and all I can say is if you haven’t got them yet what are you waiting for they are yumsville!! So without further ado shall we crack on?
Light up your life
While I was out shopping the other day, I saw some cheap lampshades and thought it would be fun to stamp up some home décor.
The ingredients
I have used Retro Space, Superlicious and the ever so cute Matryoshka Dolls stamp sets. You will also need an in expensive lampshade (or two!) permanent inks, inks, colouring pens, shimmer mists and stickles
Because the lampshades are curved and not solid we need to stamp without an acrylic block, so ink up your stamp with permanent ink and place it in your hand to stamp. You will also need to put your hand inside the shade to push against your stamp. So using Retro space build up your pattern.
Next thing for this shade is to make masks to cover your images and stick them in place.
I used some distress ink and a piece of cut and dry to build up some colour over my shade. The eagle eyed among you will see I didn’t end up masking my stars, to be honest it was very fiddly and I have a plan for them anyway, so you see this project is made ‘live’ as it were LOL
With the masks still in place spritz the shade with some shimmer mist. Not only does it add a sparkle but it also makes the distress ink ‘speckle’ and spread adding an extra starry sky effect.
Remove the masks and colour in your stamped images … and those stars? Add some diamond stickles to them!
Ok so really the basic idea is to use your hands as your stamp block and mould the stamps into place. Now play with your other stamp sets and see what patterns you can make!
The flowery shade is made using the Superlicious set. I started with the large outline flower and worked my way down in size to the small flowers, these are really easy to put on your finger tip to stamp with.
I ended the stamping with the tiny flourish in the set and added some stickles to the middle of some of the flowers for some extra bling.
I kept the Russian Doll shade quite simple as the stamps are so yummy in the Matryoshka Doll set. I used black and black cherry stayzon mixed to create a vintage look. I used the lacey border stamp from the set round the top and two different size dolls.
I hope you feel inspired to try a bit of home décor now with your Banana Frog stamps new and old and hope you will share your creations with us. Thanks for hopping by the lily pad and as ever hop back soon to check out more inspiration from my fellow froglets.
Love
Mx

Fabulous idea. Might try it myself as I'm in need of a lampshade in my craft room.
