September guest designer - Helen Eddie

We had so many wonderful submissions for the 2009 Banana Frog design team that in addition to our amazing design team, each month we will have a guest designer showing you fantastic creations. The guest designer will have two days to show their lovely projects, 1st and 15th of the month.

This month we welcome the lovely Helen Eddie. So, without further ado, over to Helen...

Thank you for the opportunity to be your Guest Designer: I was thrilled to be asked, having been a fan of Banana Frog stamps for a couple of years.   My name is Helen Eddie and I live in Macclesfield, Cheshire, just south of Manchester but I grew up by the sea in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, moving to the North West when I went to Manchester University back in 1995.  I’m 32 years old, been married to Graeme for 5 years and Mummy to Evie (3) and Oliver (13 months).  Until recently I was a primary school teacher but have recently decided to become more involved with my Husband’s IT company, which allows me to spend more time with my children. 

I was drawn to Scrapbooking after Evie was born, as a way to record her development.    Journaling is very important to me and I try to include as much information about the story as possible on each layout.  I’m passionate about recording the little things that happen which otherwise may be forgotten; funny things that my children say or do, or our routines and things we do as a family.   I also use scrapbooking as my creative outlet and enjoy the whole design process but especially love getting messy!  I originally scrapped in 12x12 but after a few months, tried out A4 scrapping and have never looked back.   I use my blog, as a way of recording bits of my life and also for sharing photographs and my layouts.

One Year Together:

When I saw the 'It's all about...Flourishes' stamps, they immediately made me think about creating a frame using them.  I had an ideal photo of my children to use which inspired the colour choices for the layout.  I chose 3 of the flourishes which I stamped, hand cut and then arranged around the photo to frame it.

I also created the heart embellishment by stamping one of the flourishes in a couple of colours and using as a backing for a Ghost Heart shape.

I really like making my own embellishments and recently have been making a lot of flowers using paper folding techniques.  I chose some fairly plain background papers to stamp with the flourishes again to use to make some flowers for this layout.

The large frame stamp was perfect as a base for the title to complete the layout.
