We had so many wonderful submissions for the 2009 Banana Frog design team that in addition to our amazing design team, each month we will have a guest designer showing you fantastic creations. The guest designer will have two days to show their lovely projects, 1st and 15th of the month.
This month we welcome Helen Eddie over to Banana Frog. To see Helen's first set of projects check here.
Over again to Helen...
Princess Cake
I used the 'That Takes the Cake', 'Funky Flowers' and the 'Tiny Teen' alphabet set.
My colour choices were based on those in the photo which also happen to be one of my favourite combinations: white, black and pink.
I knew that I wanted to use the cake stamps to make my own embellishments and so stamped the slice and cake stand images onto white card before hand cutting them.
I coloured them using the corner of a damp ink blending tool which had been loaded with a little ink. I then applied a layer of glossy accents to highlight the coloured sections. Once this was dry, I applied another layer to chosen sections of the designs and sprinkled some fine glitter on top which I then allowed to dry overnight (otherwise I have a bad habit of leaning in it and ruining it!). The finishing touch to the slices of cake were some gems to decorate them.
I love the size of the tiny Teen alpha stamps. They're perfect for titles and adding phrases. For this layout, I chose to use them to add the phrase which my daughter has said a lot of times in the lead up to her birthday: 'I want a princess cake!'. To tie in with the colour scheme, I stamped them twice using both pink and black to create a shadowed effect.
Finally I decided to add some small flower embellishments, just like the ones I used on the cake and the small flower stamp from the 'Funky Flowers' set was the perfect size. Again, these were stamped, handcut and then coated in glossy accents before being added to the layout..
Making Christmas Cards
I used the Retro Baubles set and the 'Tiny Teen' alphabet set.
Firstly, I stamped the star images to create a border. These were then embellished with gems to add interest.
I used this stamp again along with the word 'Noel' to highlight the swatches of patterned paper in the grid of photos. The word 'Christmas' was perfect for my title and I made a tree embellishment to match the tree on the cards in the photographs for this to be stamped onto. This was covered in Glossy Accents and sprinkled with glitter.
I love using tiny alpha stickers on my layouts and thought I'd have a go at making my own using the Teen alphabet stamps and some patterned paper. I know I'll be doing this again as I love the effect!
Finally, I used the number stamps from the Teen alpha to create my list of instructions that forms my journaling.
Thank you so much for this opportunity!
It's really made me think about different ways to use the stamps and got me scrapping!
Thanks for your sharing your lovely projects with us Helen.
Check back next month to meet another guest designer!
In the meantime, show us how you use Banana Frog stamps.
Lovely projects, lovely colours and love that teen alpha!
