Hi there Frog-bloggers, how's things?
Some of you may have already seen the stamp set giveaway I'm hosting with Kirsty Neale on our Copy + Paste challenge blog and you may have already left us a comment over there to be in with a chance of winning. In which case you can sit back and view my Project of the Day in peace.
If you're not one of those people - don't worry. I know what you're like ... you don't want to miss having the opportunity to win some Banana Frog stamps so I'm going to let you dash over there right now, leave us a comment, run straight back here, catch your breath ...and then cast your eye over my project. Sound like a deal?
OK then, here's my project, a layout on which, apart from my photo and the shaped cardstock, everything else I used came from the stash-swap Kirsty and I carried out:
When I haven't been sifting through, sorting out and swapping stash this summer, I've been scrapping lots of the 'tweets' I've made on my Twitter account. And in light of all the trips I've made to the post office with all the swap-packages lately, I felt that this particular parcel-related tweet was especially appropriate!
I used 'It's All About ...Documenting' as this set includes phrases such as 'He said ...' and 'It was like this ....', are perfect for a layout based around a conversation.
I used a grey dye-based ink and stamped on to a page from a book. It's one of my favourite stamping techniques as there's something satifyingly soft about an image stamped on to such an absorbent surface.
I wanted to frame my title and draw attention to my words, to balance out the bright colours in the photo. So, using the square bracket from the 'Big Punctuation' set I again used a grey ink, only this time I stamped on to patterned paper to add interest and pattern.
I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of scrapping with supplies sent to me by someone else and, judging by the amazing projects my fellow swapees [if that's a word!!] produced ...I think they must have too. Kirsty's Project of the Day, made using the stamp sets and supplies I sent to her can be seen here and Hannah's is here.
So, why not give it a try yourself. Swap some crafting items or exchange a set of stamps with a friend to see what bright new ideas emerge from it, it's always interesting to see how two creative people produce different end results using the same products.
Oh and, before I go, just another quick reminder .... giveaway ....Banana Frog stamp set ....mine and Kirsty's blog ...comment ...chance to win ....remember? The closing date is Sunday 16th August [21:00 GMT] and the winner will be chosen at random.
As usual, if you want to share / show-off anything you've made using BF stamps, then the arms of the the Banana Frog Flickr group are open wide!
Anything else .... you know where to find me,
Julie :)
