As my project of the day last month had a Christmassy theme and every one of my posts on this blog has had a seasonal feel since, between then and now, I thought I should round off my month with one more Christmas project!
I've really enjoyed playing with all the new Christmas stamp sets from Banana Frog and for this project I’ve come up with another piece for the Christmas table
A froggy Christmas place setting
For this project I have used the it’s Christmas deer stamp set, the Winter Wonderland stamp set and the Christmas elegance stamp set. I have also used a Big and Juicy ink pad in waterfall, a black archival ink pad, a clear embossing pad, cosmic shimmers mica powder in blue, clear embossing powder, silver embossing powder, malachite fire cosmic shimmers embossing powder, some glitter, white card and my trusty laminator.
I cut a circle from a piece of white 12 x 12 for the plate mat and a smaller one for the coaster. The base of both are built up in the same way on both by taking some cut and dry foam and building up a pattern of different blues from the big and juicy pad.
Once the colour was built up I used the ever so useful swirl stamp from winter wonderland to build up a pattern over the top of it, picking up all the blue shades from the ink pad.
I then mixed a little of the blue mica powder in some water in a spray bottle and spritzed both pieces.
I love the way this diffuses the stamped pattern and adds just the right amount of shimmer at the same time
Once the pieces were dry I used the 2 snowflakes from winter wonderland to create another layer of pattern over both mats, using the darker end of the ink pad.
The last layer of stamping was to add the reindeers (from it’s Christmas Deer) round the outside of the plate mat and one in the centre of the coaster, again using the darker end of the ink pad to pick up the colour. I then laminated both pieces to make them food and drink friendly. I did mean to add a sprinkle of glitter over the mats when I put them in the laminator pouches, but I forgot! If you remember, it would add just a touch of extra festive sparkle!
So now we have a place setting, let’s make a place name to save the ‘where will I sit’ arguments! Cut a small tent card and build up the decorative layers in exactly the way you did on the place mat and coaster.
Stamp the title block from winter wonderland onto some white card, cut out and colour with blue ink then add a thin line of glitter round the outside. Make a triple embossed Christmas tree using the method I used in my Lilypad lesson this month and stick the 2 to the little tent card using foam pads.
And lastly what elegant table setting is complete without a napkin held in a napkin ring? Make a ring from some silver mirri card and stamp out a bauble from Christmas Elegance onto some white card and cut it out with a thin margin all the way round.
Cover the bauble with clear embossing ink and add clear embossing powder, heat and while it is still molten add another layer of clear powder and then repeat once more
Heat up the final layer of clear embossing and add a layer of silver embossing powder to the top, Sprinkle some blue glitter into it while it is hot and then ink up the bauble again and stamp into the silver layer.
Add some wide organza ribbon around the silver card ring and add the bauble to the top with silicon glue.
And that completes the froggy Christmas place setting
As well as my froggy Christmas month! With Faux luminarys, a Christmas card and a Christmas cake all tying together beautifully with my place setting.
So what Froggy theme will you decorate Christmas with this year? Whatever it is I hope you have lots of fun creating with your Banana Frog stamps, talking of which would you like an early Christmas present to help you on your way? The lovely Bev has said I can give away one of the new Christmas stamp sets and all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and then hop on over to my blog and leave some love on the post there, shimples! I will announce the lucky stamper on the 30th, blog hop day :) Until soon Happy Stamping
