Shrink plastic was, for a long time, something of final frontier for me and my crafting. I'd never used it and couldn't really decide if I needed to take on yet another technique .... but, obviously I did need to try it out! And I'm glad I did.
Stamping onto shrink plastic is a simple and affordable means of achieving a professional feel in your home-made accessories. Plus, it's a great way to branch out and use your stamps on non-papercraft projects:To create my kilt pin and earring set I used:
- The 'Retro Space' stamp set;
- White shrink plastic;
- Black Stazon ink
- 'Cerulean Blue' Versacraft ink [both of these inks dry onto the shrink plastic when heated - not all inks will]:
I threaded them onto small jump rings before fixing them to the pin and the earring loop. I also threaded on a few small beads and a metal tag to add interest.
Here's one way of wearing the kilt pin [if you haven't got a kilt that is!!]:
I'll definitely be stamping and shrinking more items of jewellery, especially now I've discovered that my ProMarkers work on the plastic too! That way I can colour over the white of the plastic with my chosen colour before stamping my images on top in black. Oh the possibilities!
If you too like the idea of using your stamps to create fashion accessories you might like to know that the stamped and laminated belt tutorial I blogged here last year is now available as a PDF file for you to download here.
Whatever designs you stamp and wear ....we'd love to see, just pop them in the Banana Frog Flickr group or leave us a comment with a link to your creations.
I'll ee you next month when we'll all know who's been chosen as the new Banana Frog DT members!! Good luck to you all .... can't wait to see who's going to sharing the lily pad with us!
Until next time, you know where to find me.

I LOVE this!

Wow, I've been meaning to use my shrink plastic for ages, and this is just the inspiration I need! Think I will attach the pin to a card though. Thanks for sharing!

I've just hopped over form Kirsty Wiseman's blog, following Bee's comment I wanted to see how you'd 'shrunk the jewellery'
