I recently went on a crafting retreat with four friends where we each decorated a blank 7Gypsies ATC Matchbox Kit and it was really interesting to see how each of us made something quite different from one another despite starting with the same basic ingredients. Here's my finished result where I literally put my own 'stamp' on a blank box project:
On the outer top cover of my box [bottom right corner] I added a lovely 'Bling it On' rub on as it fit with the vintage style of the papers I'd chosen. However, as lovely as it was, I only had one of them yet I still had 12 blank ATCs inside to decorate. That's when I turned to what is fast becoming my favourite Banana Frog stamp: the filigree disc design [ bottom right] from the Matroyshka Dolls set.
One of the beauties of having a good versatile stamp set, such as this, in your supplies is that unlike with rub-ons etc you will never run out of your preferred design. This is particularly useful when you're wanting to create a set of co-ordinating, or even identical, ATCs.
Once I'd decorated thefronts of my cards, I turned my attention to the reverse:
On the back of my ATCs I stamped guidelines for my journaling using the dashed line stamp from the 'Superlicious' set.
I then added flourishes to some of the cards, alternating between two designs, again from the 'Superlicious' set. Here are a few of my finished cards which, once I've journalled on them, will form a little treasure box of thoughts and quotes about the idea of 'Home':
This is the second month in a row when I've used the filigree disc and decorative border from the 'Matroyshka Dolls' set in my Project of the Day and as I've already mentioned, it's becoming a real favourite of mine. It'll be interesting to see how I can use it in the future on different styles of projects and by using different coloured inks to can change the look and feel of it's classic design.
Do you have any new favourites form the latest sets? Anything which you've already detected is becoming your 'go to' stamp? The one you grab when you want a quick, impressive, tried and trusted image? Which new design gives you the feeling that your putting your 'stamp', your 'signature style' on your work?
As usual, the doors to the Banana Frog Flickr group are always open for you to share your projects with us. And if it's just thoughts, ideas or ponderings you'd like to share, then drop them in the comments box and I'll look forward to reading through them.
I won't see you here again before Christmas, so whatever you do, have a wonderful time.
If you want to catch up before I'm back over here ... you know where to find me.
