Hi all, hope you’ve been enjoying the summer such as it’s been! Thank you for the lovely messages about the crackle technique you’ve been trying out since the last stamp school, I’m glad you’ve had fun! This class I have decided to share with you a very easy project that has endless possibilities (and isn’t too messy this time LOL!) It’ll get you looking at your Banana Frog stamps differently and get you using different sets together.
Heartfelt Blooms
The other day I was sent a link to a tutorial for coffee filter roses. I’ve seen several different versions of this and thought it would be fun to put a Banana Frog twist on the project.
The Ingredients
The basis for making a rose is heart shapes so I gathered all my Banana Frog stamp sets and selected heart stamps from It’s all about hearts, I heart you and Classic wedding. You can use a selection of papers including handmade paper, scrapbook paper, book pages, sheet music etc. Gather a collection of ink pads in different colours. You will also need brads, some strong wet glue and some sharp scissors. Optional extras for decoration could include glimmer mists, glitter, stickles, gems, buttons etc.
So the first thing to do is stamp 4 hearts with one stamp, and use 4 different sizes so one heart fits inside the next and so on. These hearts are stamped on handmade papers.
Cut them all out and punch a small hole near the bottom point of the heart
At this point you could spray them with glimmer mist if you wish.
Layer them up on your brad starting with the smallest petals
Put a small blob of your strong wet glue at the base of the brad over the holes in your petals on this first layer just to secure the centre.
Continue to layer up the petals in ascending size to the largest and open up your brad.
This is what it will look like the right way round.
Scrunch up your petals starting at the centre
Until the whole flower is scrunched up
Unfold the petals
Then curl into place as you wish. I added some stickles to my brad to finish of my bloom
Look at the stamps you have again, look for different sizes, I used smaller hearts to make a smaller bloom.
Why not have a go at two tone stamping your hearts. For these petals I applied a mid purple ink pad to my stamp and a dark blue round the edges before stamping it.
Then I supersized my bloom by using the scallop edge heart from It’s all about hearts, cutting round the scallops for a pretty edge.
I built this bloom in the same way just adding the extra large layer at the end.
Now look at some different papers to stamp on
Some patterned scrapbook paper
Pages from an old book
Some old sheet music.
Like I said the possibilities are endless using different combinations of your stamps, different colour inks and different papers you can create all types of blooms. So why not have a play, they’d be great for so many crafty projects, scrapbook pages, cards, gift boxes even hair bands and brooches. Look at your Banana Frog stamp sets all together and see how you can mix and match your stamps to create different projects. I hope you’ve enjoyed this session of stamp school, don’t forget to share your creations and I’ll see you again on the 23rd. Until then Happy crafting and thanks for hopping by.
