Most of my recent projects concern my three month old son. I'm thinking ahead a bit with this one, but when I saw a letterpress poster online with this idea I couldn't wait to try it out! I knew the Make a Chain set would work well, and the numbers from Pharmacy are the perfect size!
I used a sheet of 140lb water colour paper, a rainbow pigment ink pad for the circles, and black Versafine for the numbers.
First I drew in guidelines to make sure that my stamping would be as straight as possible (it's still a bit wonky, but without the lines it would have been a whole lot worse!). You can see here the guidelines drawn in along with the stamped numbers.
I decided to work vertically instead of horizontally, so I stamped all the way from 1 to 10, then from 2 to 10 and so on and so forth.
I alternated where on the pad I inked the stamps. I think I just might make another one and use all five colours instead of just the first three like I did here.
Once the ink was totally dry, I carefully erased the pencil lines using a white eraser.
This came together a lot more quickly than I expected! It's a nice way to add some functional "art" to your child's room.
This is so cute! I love the idea of making this for a child's room. I'll be linking.
