Lately I am loving borders on everything -- especially something that can have several borders all layered on top of each other. Borders are easy on scrapbook pages, but I don't always remember to put them to use on cards. Time to change that!
To create room for a border, trim off part of the card so the front is narrower than the back.
Then add some polka dots to the card. I used the small dots from Banana Frog Backgrounds and an ink that was a few shades darker than my card blank.
Then I switched over to brown ink, cream cardstock and It's All About Elegance to stamp an ornate oval frame. Cut this out and sponge on more brown ink around the edges.
Now it's time to start having some fun with borders! My first layer is punched with the Fiskars Upper Crest border punch. Add brown ink to the border and the edges of the card itself, then attach the punched border strip behind the front of the card.
Add more layers to that border -- stamp one of the Elegance border stamps in brown ink on cream cardstock. Cut out, sponge on more ink and attach underneath the punched border. Then add some bling on the front -- glue a row of gems on the join between the card and the first border piece.
Then go back to your stamped oval and cut two space the width of a piece of ribbon that will go around the card. Thread the ribbon through so the ends are on top of the centre of the oval.
Run the ribbon loop over the card and secure on the back. Attach the oval to the front of the card with pop dots to add some dimension. Use stickers or stamped letters on paper tiles to write your greeting -- each letter has a bit more ink by dragging it across the sponge (much less messy for small pieces than the ink pad!) and is adhered with a tiny pop dot.
Presto - borders, polka dots, ribbon and bling -- what's not to love?
Now it's your turn...what have you made with Banana Frog border stamps? Which borders are your favourites? Or what set do you want to add to your collection next?
Have a lovely weekend -- with lots of stamping!
Love and glitter,
Shimelle

Beautiful! I love the layered borders. I don't have the BF border stamps but I'm sure a similar effect could be achieved with the sets I have. Will have to give it a go!
