This layout is based around a photo of me taken by my other half while I was distracted. He quite often sneaks photos of me when I'm not looking, which I quite like as it usually results in relaxed, more natural shots of me which I really enjoy scrapping. It also takes the pressure off me to both smile and keep my eyes open at the same time [a task I tend to struggle with when in forn of a camera!!!].
With my back turned, the main focal point of the photo became the printed design of my hooded top so I thought it would be fun to try to recreate its traditional tattoo style by combining several of my Banana Frog sets.
I began with the scribble heart from the 'I Heart You' set and added a smaller heart from 'Classic Wedding'. Next I added two solid star shapes in blue [from 'Make a Chain'] then used black ink and an outline star image from 'Make a Chain' [along with one from 'Tag It'] to create definition.
I completed the stamped element of the feature by adding a solid red heart and three pink flowers [all from 'Make a Chain'] then embellished it with two metal bird charms and some rub-on keys.
I then continued the imagery by stamping a generous amount of tiny heats and stars right across the page.
I'm pleased with how closely I could recreate an existing design using my stamps and it's been a useful exercise in looking at my sets with new eyes. Rather than treating them as a set to be used all together - I sought out specific shapes and symbols which I could then combine and adapt to suit my purpose.
Layering up your stamped images is a great way to approach any of the stamps you've have had for a while, which you're really familiar with ... it can really alter your view of them and their use beyond their single design properties.
As always, we'd love to see any of the projects you've created using any Banana Frog stamps, so feel free to drop any of your work alongside ours in our Flickr group.
If you have any questions you can always use the 'Discussion' board on there too.
You know where to find me.
Julie :)
