Alix has been playing with her Funky Paisley stamps and has come up with some great new ideas on how to use them.
Over to you Alix...
I was looking through my mountain of stuff & I found my Banana frog funky paisley set. It was one of the first sets I bought I remember thinking I’d do loads of back grounds, which I did & loads of frames. I’m on a bird faze at the moment, I needed to make some cards for various birthdays and had no time to order any bird stamps. I was playing with the funky paisley set and I realised they make very good birds with a bit of stick drawing to make legs and beaks.
So with a little trial and error I came up with 3 bird cards.
The first one is probably the simplest, you stamp him in any colour you fancy then just add a beak by either drawing or cutting from paper a little triangle. Cut this out & mount on to 3d foam, mount on to some paper, add some stick legs and a little crystal for his eye. I used the zigzag stitching from the sewing kit to make a border and mounted on to different papers (a combination of rouge de garance and some hand made papers I’ve got).
The singing bird is stamped on to some orange slightly glossy paper so I used stazon. I drew the stick legs and open beak. I cut this all out and mounted onto some rouge de garance paper “jardin secret”. I gave the bird a crystal for an eye and used glitter glue to make her stand out a little better, and then I used some black note stickers to finish it off.
For the third bird I used some rainbow inks to stamp the body and used a finger dauber to make a head. Again I drew the beak and feet, as she’s sitting down. I added another crystal as an eye and cut this all out. It was mounted on to 3d foam and then on some old wrapping paper, which is mounted on to some glittery paper that has been cut with large scalloped scissors. To finish off I used some sticker waste to frame some of the dots top right and bottom left.
I had so much fun with the birds I kept playing to see what else I could come up with.
So there’s a flower made with stamping the same tear drop paisley eight times and arranging into a flower head then stamping it again 4 times and mounting these on 3d foam and alternate to give the head some dimension. Using some old wrapping paper I made a flower stem and using another of the paisley stamps made leaves.
The last paisley stamp in the set I placed in on its side and realised it looked like an elephant’s head with its trunk curled up. I stamped this on to coloured paper with 2 different coloured inks cut it out. Again, I gave it a crystal eye (spot the trend) and mounted onto 3d foam. I made a template for the body and then cut it out from some rouge de garance paper “jardin secret” and made a glittering blanket with glitter glue. I mounted all this on some hand made papers from India.
Hope you enjoyed that, I’m now off to see what else I can come up with using some of the other sets I have!
