Christmas decorations

Pic_024_small

I love the white and red colours of the Scandinavian Christmas (Ikea’s Christmas department is my idea of heaven!) and I wanted to make some decorations along those lines. These were really quick and easy to do and I think they are so effective – and they only used scraps, so a great budget make, too.

I downloaded a stocking template and resized it - my stockings are about 3" high. I cut them in white felt and then stamped my design on with very light coloured chalk ink – just enough to see.  I used Banana Frog Retro Snowflakes.  I then embroidered over the top of the design using back stitch and embellished them with French knots and crystals using my Bejeweler.

I decorated the stockings with some scraps of ribbon and then sewed them together using blanket stitch.  A little piece of ric rac provided the hanging loop and there are three little stockings, ideal to hang as tree decorations or even as stockings for the goldfish(?!) as has been decided by my son!  (Any ideas for Christmas presents for fish?!)

I had a few scraps left over so made a tree decoration in a similar way, only this time I stuffed it very lightly to give a padded effect.

We would love to see how you are using your Banana Frog stamps this Christmas - send them through to us so we can feature them in our Tadpole gallery!

These are gorgeous Alison! As for fish pressies...no idea. Could Stephen colour a nice back ground picture that you could laminate and then place behind the tank? A fantasy kingdom for the fish? Or just some of those fresh or frozen worm things they sell!
