Challenge Scrapdolly

After Karen Leahy (Scrapdolly to UKScrappers!) won one of our challenges we asked her to send us some layouts using Banana Frog stamps. Luckily, Karen is a big fan of Banana Frog and so was only too happy to join in. So, over to you Karen!

Tropical Dining by Karen Leahy
We recently spent a week in Southern California, relaxing after a road trip in Canada, and one of the special things about each day was eating outside on the beautiful patio. There were palm trees and tropical flowers surrounding us, and hummingbirds were our dining companions. What a fab way to start a day. I wanted to capture the tropical feel and so the Tropical Flowers stamps were the perfect thing to use. I stamped the large hibiscus flower onto coordinating card using several different colours of ink to give some shading. Once they were cut out I stamped some of the swirls onto the card to act as faux stems before mounting the flowers on foam pads and adding them to the layout. They were very simple to create and yet make such vibrant embellishments for a page. I also used the Fanciful corner stamp at the top of the page, and one of the trust journalling stamps. I reach for the journalling stamps again and again - they are a real scrapbooking staple for me. I also added the date using the items from the postage set.
Icefields
Icefields Parkway by Karen Leahy
I am increasingly drawn to space on my pages, especially if I am doing a multi photo page, as the space allows the pictures to speak out. The Icefields Parkway is frequently referred to as one of the most scenic highways in the world and, as you would expect, I took a zillion photographs. I wanted this page to be an introduction to that section of my album so included a montage of pictures. The only things the page needed were a title and a simple embellishment and my Banana Frog stamps were just the job. I used Pharmacy stamps for the title and swirls from botht he Swirls set and the Elegant Swirls set. They stamp so cleanly and crisply that they worked perfectly for this simple graphic page.
